Blogs
We have set up a "Blog" facility using Goole Apps, at: sdukwiki.appspot.com
It is a demonstration site to illustrate how it works. Feel free to add your own blog to the site. If you do, you can direct people directly to your blog(s) by sending them the URL that shows in the browser's address bar when you are looking at the blog you want them to read.
Instructions on how you can use the blog are in the article "How to blog" by Nigel Cohen.
The blog page can be seen directly or can be "injected" into your own website. The specification we wrote for the blog site allows anyone to add blog pages, but only the author can update his/her own pages.
Ideas for using a Blog, either using the existing Blog facility or by extracting part of it or rewriting the functionality to suit your requirements, include:
- Making your ideas/thoughts/experiences available on the web, quickly and without fuss, to employees, customers, suppliers, friends or others.
- Injected of the Blog text directly into your own website. This allows you to update your own website with no technical knowledge whatsoever.
- Allowing anyone to update Blog pages. This is useful where you are working collaboratively (eg. staff members for whom a special "members only" section is set up, users of software to compile a "self-help" manual, charity workers pulling together a project or appeal or students compiling joint research).
